I have started and stopped phases of working out. As though it was just a temporary phase, success seemed out of reach, then nothing happens. But now, I’m determined to fill my cup of success with consistent effort and dedication.
After getting married, I maintained my running and thought that was enough to stay fit.
I would have my bouts of injuries from running. I would rest some then go at it again in search of my cup of success.
Sometimes just dealing with some discomfort.
Nagging injuries
Earlier this year, I had a nagging knee pain from sitting around so much in the office.
I missed running a marathon because of it. I took a considerable amount of time off. I thought I lost my cup of success.
Before my trip to Europe, I was provided stretches from a physical therapist to help strengthen the muscles around my knees.
The stretches themselves did not help me at all.
During a family trip to Europe, a friend, who is a doctor and plays semi pro basketball recommended vitamins that would help my knees because it has helped her.
I’ve taken them religiously upon my return and began to notice a change after a month.
I’ve haven’t had any issues with my knees since. It’s been part of my journey to my cup of success in recovery.

The other change, I put working out and continue prepping for the marathon.
It was a slight mind shift but it has helped tremendously.
So far, no major problems and have noticed a considerable change physically since June.
Consistency
Consistency is key. If I maintain consistency, my cup of success overflows. Even if its just 10 minutes.
Prefer to do something than not doing anything at all. for example, as a real estate investor.
I make calls to home owners of vacant homes to see if they want to sell.
To spend 30 minutes daily making the calls.
I work about 2 – 3 hours during a week on a blog.
If it is not directly related to a blog, it is reading up on how to make myself better and provide better blog content.
When it comes to running, I track my runs in the Garmin Connect app.
I track everything, such as, my track workouts, easy runs and long runs. This tracking helps me find my cup of success in training.
This is all needed to help me prepare for the upcoming marathon.
Weight lifting consists of full body workouts. I track my workouts in MyFitnessPal app.
I also keep track of what I eat during the week in there as well. My focus is on my macros.
My goal is to get 130 grams of protein daily.
My fun
I was asked by my brother-in-law what i do for fun. To disconnect myself from all, I practice on the guitar.
I spend 30 minutes playing to prepare for my weekly lessons.
Prior to going to sleep, I try to read a book for about 30 minutes.
I realized that I have been slacking on my reading so I wanted to add that to my daily tasks.
So far, everything is on track to run injury-free.
I plan to run in zone 3 for a good chunk of the marathon.
I do anticipate that I will be in a zone 4 during the second half.
There are times when I don’t complete something because of family obligations or something that came up unexpectedly.
I go and work on it when I can. It’s important to do something than not doing anything. I don’t beat myself up should I miss a task.
I just make a concerted effort to complete that missed task the next day.
Just follow through and with time consistency will settle in. remember, that consistency is the key.
After a while, it becomes a habit and you don’t even think about not doing it. Good luck!!! Celebrating small wins contributes to my cup of success in life.
